- Only BJP can solve problems facing nation, says Rajnath

Haridwar, 9 May: "Only the BJP has the leadership and the vision to solve the problems facing the country," said the National President of the BJP, Rajnath Singh. Rajnath Singh was addressing a big rally this evening at Gurukul Narsan, about 12 kms from Roorkee, in support of the party's candidate from Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, Swami Yatindranand Giriji Maharaj.
Rajnath Singh said that, today, the country stood at a critical juncture and was facing serious problems like those of the increasing menace of terrorism, spiralling prices of essential commodities and unemployment. "The Congress led UPA government has completely failed to tackle these problems. This government has completely disillusioned the people of the country," he alleged. He further said that after the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP led NDA would come to power at the Centre.
The National President of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), an ally of the BJP, Chaudhary Ajit Singh was also scheduled to address the meeting. However, he failed to turn up. Rajnath Singh also addressed the meeting only for a few minutes. The supporters of Ajit Singh accused the BJP leaders of betraying them. "We have come here to hear Ajit Singh, the messiah of the farmers," said many farmers present at the rally. There was melee on the dias and the rally was marred by confusion and chaos.
