Mussoorie, 29 July: In spite of the strict measures being taken, the Kanwariyas continue to throng to the hill town. However, the police came down on them today with greater energy.
The devotees of Shiva, coming here on jeeps, buses, etc., were offloaded at Kolukhet and JP Bend. They were asked to change their clothes and only then allowed to continue after strict warnings against rowdyism. Some of the more seemingly aggressive ones were turned back.
Buses, local jeeps, two-wheelers were all stopped at the check points. They were told strict action would be taken if they indulged in any kind of anti-social activity.
Kotwal Mahesh Joshi said that nobody dressed as a Kanwariya was allowed to enter Mussoorie on Thursday.
