YC elections for Tehri LS Constituency on anvil

By Sunil Sonkar Mussoorie, 29 July: Election In-charge Kuljeet Singh from Chandigarh and Rajesh Joshi from Gujarat, who have been nominated to preside over elections of the Youth Congress in the Tehri Lok Sabha constituency, have exhorted the members to actively participate in the organisation’s activities. Addressing a press conference here, today, they said that the responsibility for the 2012 state elections rested squarely on the shoulders of the youth. They claimed that importance would be given to dedicated and honest candidates. According the election officials, as of now, YC activists were being briefed on how the elections would be held. In the coming three or four months, elections would be held at the village, block, district and LS constituency levels. Only YC members between the ages of 18 and 35 could stand for elections and would be appointed after ratification by local members. Exhorting activists to unite for the 2012 elections, they said that thirty percent of tickets ought to be given to youth candidates. Present at the conference were Mussoorie MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, State Organising Secretary Manmohan Singh Mall, Town President Bhagwan Singh Dhanai, President of the ‘Vyopar Sangh’ Rajat Agarwal, local YC President Shailendra Bisht, Chhatar Singh Rawat, Gaurav Garg, Satish Dhaundiyal, Ramesh Panwar, Raees Ahmed, Jagjit Kukreja and others.
