Khanduri blames Cong for price rise, corruption & terrorism
Friday, 01.05.2009, 11:34am (GMT+5.5)

By OUR STAFF REPORTER
ALMORA, 30 Apr:
Speaking at an election meeting at Chaukhutiya in support of Ajay Tamta, the BJP’s LS contestant from Almora-Pithoragarh, CM BC Khanduri said that the UPA government was responsible for various problems like price rise, corruption and terrorism in the country.
He said that BJP, being a nationalist party, ‘was capable of containing terrorist activities in the country.’ Referring to introduction of EMRI 108 services in the state, he criticised the Congress for trying to take credit for it. “If it was started by the UPA government, then why is it not functioning in Congress ruled states?” he asked.
He said that the BJP candidate, Ajay Tamta, was an educated and honest man. “During my tenure as Minister for Surface Transport in the NDA government, I tried to lay a network of roads in the country,” he recalled, adding that Tamta ‘also wanted to develop roads in the state, but this was possible only when NDA came to power at the Centre.”
He said that during the last two years in the state, the BJP government had provided employment opportunities to thousands of youths and also laid foundation stones for many development projects.
