Police bust gang of vehicle thieves
Friday, 30.07.2010, 11:41am (GMT+5.5)

By OUR STAFF REPORTER
DEHRADUN, 29 July:
On the orders of SSP GS Martolia, Vikas Nagar police achieved a major success by burting an interstate gang of vehicle lifters and recovered stolen bikes from them that were hidden in a shop.
SSP Martolia has declared a cash award of Rs 2500 for the police team that nabbed the gang.
Taking the increasing vehicle theft cases seriously, Martolia had ordered all police station incharges to seriously address the theft incidents in their areas and nab the culprits as soon as possible.
Early in the morning, Vikas Nagar police station Inspector BD Uniyal was on a routine patrol with his force near Dhakrani Canal when he saw four youths driving on two bikes. On being stopped by police, the youths tried to flee, but were nabbed. On being questioned about the bikes' documents, the youths could not produce them. Police arrested them and brought them to the police station, where on being questioned they gave their names as Arshad’s son Zareef from Atak Majri, Ayub’s son Lateef, Zeshaan Ali from Dharmawa Sahaspur and Ravi’s son Amarnath from Sabhawala.
They told police that both the bikes were stolen ones and gave further clues. Police, acting swiftly, recovered 6 more stolen bikes from a shop. Police also arrested two more vehicle lifters, who gave their names as Yakub’s son Irshad from Dhakrani and Bilal’s son Idrish.
Inspector BD Uniyal said that the gang leader is Zeeshan who owns a vehicle repair shop on Paonta Road and steals vehicles with the help of his gang. Uniyal further said that Zeeshan sold stolen bikes to a man named Mansur Ali from Saharanpur.
