Bureaucrats queue up for deputations
Friday, 30.07.2010, 11:39am (GMT+5.5)

By Arun Pratap Singh
Dehradun, 29 July:
Uttarakhand has witnessed a constant trend of bureaucrats from the state cadre preferring to go on Central deputation. However, during the past 6 months, the trend has seen a sudden upsurge. With the last date for applying for the Central deputations coming to an end on 31 July, several bureaucrats have lined up for permission of the state government (NOC) to go on Central deputation.
Principal Secretary Keshav Desiraju has already gone on deputation and is unlikely to return to the state. Others who are likely to go on deputation include Amarendra Sinha, Anup Wadhawan, Om Prakash and Anand Wardhan.
In addition some junior officers have also applied for NOC of the government for a Central posting.
Principal Secretary Anun Wadhawan, only recently transferred to New Delhi as Principal Resident Commissioner is likely to be posted soon with the Union Government as Joint Secretary. It may be recalled that, both, Desiraju and Wadhawan had returned to the state service only for a short time to ‘cool off’ before the next posting on deputation. S Krishnan, Vibha Puri Das lead the long list of senior IAS Officers (including N Ravi Shankar, NN Prasad, Anjali Prasad, Arun Arya, BP Pandey, etc.) from the Uttarakhand Cadre, who are currently serving at the Centre. SS Sandhu is on deputation with the Punjab Government. Anjali Prasad, who had returned around 18 months ago to the state, chose to go back as soon as she got an opportunity.
The number of bureaucrats seeking permission for deputation is only increasing by the day. Insiders claim that Amarendra Sinha and Anand Vardhan have already been promised NOC.
